ray electron anisotropies as a tool to discriminate between exotic and astrophysical sources . Ignacio

چکیده
Recent results from the PAMELA [1], ATIC [2] , PPB BETS [3] and Fermi [4] collaborations extend the energy range in the e, e measurement up to unexplored energies in the hundred GeVs range confirming the bump starting at about 10GeV already suggested by HEAT [5] and AMS01 data [6]. This bump can be explained by annihilating dark matter in the context of exotic physics, or by nearby astrophysical sources e.g. pulsars. In order to discriminate between competing models for primary positron production, the study of anisotropies ,complementary to the spectrum determination , shows up as new tool to look for the origin of the lepton excess. In this letter we calculate the contribution to the electron flux given by the collection of all known gamma ray pulsars (as listed in the ATNF catalogue) and by annihilating dark matter both in case we have a clumpy halo or in case the excess can be atributed to a nearby sizeable dark matter clump. We address the problem of the electron anisotropy in both scenarios and estimate the prospect that a small dipole anisotropy can be found by the Fermi observatory.

Gamma-Rays from Decaying Dark Matter
We study the prospects for detecting gamma-rays from decaying Dark Matter (DM), focusing in particular on gravitino DM in R-parity breaking vacua. Given the substantially different angular distribution of the predicted gamma-ray signal with respect to the case of annihilating DM, and the relatively poor (of order 0.1◦) angular resolution of gamma-ray detectors, the best strategy for detection i...

The arrival directions of ultrahigh energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) may show anisotropies on all scales, from just above the experimental angular resolution up to medium scales and dipole anisotropies. We find that a global comparison of the two-point auto-correlation function of the data with the one of catalogues of potential sources is a powerful diagnostic tool. In particular, this method is fa...
متن کاملCosmic-ray Electron Excess from Pulsars Is Spiky or Smooth?: Continuous and Multiple Electron/positron Injections
We investigate the observed spectrum of cosmic-ray electrons and positrons from astrophysical sources, especially pulsars, and the physical processes for making the spectrum spiky or smooth via continuous and multiple cosmic-ray injections. We find that (1) the average spectrum with the local birth rate of pulsars (including the off-axis ones) is relatively smooth, consistent with the PAMELA da...
متن کاملThe Effect of a Nonthermal Tail on the Sunyaev-Zeldovich Effect in Clusters of Galaxies.
We study the spectral distortions of the cosmic microwave background radiation induced by the effect in clusters of galaxies when the target electrons have a modified Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution with a high-energy nonthermal tail. Bremsstrahlung radiation from this type of electron distribution may explain the suprathermal X-ray emission observed in some clusters such as the Coma Cluster and...
متن کاملCosmic gamma-ray background from dark matter annihilation
High-energy photons from pair annihilation of dark matter particles contribute to the cosmic gamma-ray background (CGB) observed in a wide energy range. The precise shape of the energy spectrum of CGB depends on the nature of dark matter particles. In order to discriminate between the signals from dark matter annihilation and other astrophysical sources, however, the information from the energy...
